How do soaps work against viruses and bacteria?

Cold-process soap bars, as we make at SOLIDU, have a high pH value. That’s why they are naturally antibacterial: bacteria cannot multiply at pH 9 more.

The best way to prevent the transmission of viruses is to wash your hands. After washing with a soap bar, the pH of the hands will be significantly higher. This will disrupt the outer layer of the fatty acid of the virus, causing it to dissolve, break down and, consequently, leach.

It is recommended to wash your hands with soap and water frequently and for at least 20 seconds. Washing your hands properly removes dirt, viruses and bacteria to stop them spreading to other people and objects. You can use hand sanitizer gel if soap and water are not available, although soap is the preferred and best option.
