Why organic cotton?
- Organic cotton is planted on ecological farms that follow clear rules for organic food and cotton, from the seeds to the final production of the fabric, including sewing.
- The use of toxic chemicals during planting or production is prohibited, as they can harm workers and the environment. Genetically modified organisms are also banned.
- Clothes made from organic cotton do not cause allergic reactions.
- Unlike synthetic materials (polyester), organic cotton does not release plastic microfibres during washing. As sewage treatment plants cannot deal with these microfibres, they end up in rivers and seas, contaminating water and soil, harming animals and sometimes ending up on our plates.
Certification
The organic cotton, from which the bag is made, has been cultivated, produced and certified according to the standards of the international organization GOTS. These standards specify the methods relating to the cultivation of cotton, its harvesting and the production of clothing and other textiles, including dyes, yarns and buttons, taking into account the social and working conditions of workers.
